Sancerre - 2013
Color is golden pale, like the glint of sunlight through the trees of a dense forest. On the nose, apricot, honeydew melon, quince and a whiff of cucumber. Honeysuckle on the palate, with apple quince and pear, and slightly salty. When paired with chevre or brie it takes on the grassy notes of a drier Sauvignon Blanc, but on its own it is sweeter, rounder, yet still crisp and refreshing. I would pair this with some seared scallops.
Touraine - 2013
Color is delicate ruby core with a watery rub rim, nose of dusky plum and red fruits on the nose, with a slight whiff of green pepper. Medium tannin on the palate with black pepper on the front of the palate and a delightful peppery finish. The nose reminds of Gamay but with Pineau d'Aunis added in for the balance, but the palate and finish more Cabernet Franc, perhaps even with a touch of Côt. A very pleasant drinking wine
